Dale Carnegie
From an improvised lecture in 1912 at a New York City YMCA, Dale Carnegie developed a series of courses that promoted self-confidence, particularly in public speaking and social settings. By the time of his death in 1955, more than 400,000 people had personally taken one of the Dale Carnegie Courses and his bestselling book, How to Win Friends and Influence People, has sold tens of millions of copies since it was published in 1936. In this letter, Carnegie thanked the host of one of his courses.
