Dick Butkus
Dick Butkus was a legendary NFL linebacker, known for his ferocious playing style and dominance on the field. Born in 1942, he played his entire career with the Chicago Bears (1965–1973), earning eight Pro Bowl selections. Butkus redefined the linebacker position with his intensity, instincts, and toughness. Feared by opponents and respected league-wide, he became a symbol of hard-nosed football. After retiring, he remained in the spotlight through broadcasting and acting. Butkus was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1979.
Dear Jack,
Entering the Hall of Fame is my #1 thrill. #2 would be the year I was voted defensive player of the year when my team’s record was only 1-13.
Thank you for your letter
Dick Butkus
