Ice Giants
Frank Nighbor
Ontario-native Frank Nighbor grew up in the era when hockey players took the ice for all 60 minutes of a game. He won the 1915 Stanley Cup with the Vancouver team of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association over the Ottawa Senators. Nighbor returned to Ontario to lead the Senators of the National Hockey League to four Stanley Cup championships. Nighbor was the first recipient of the Hart Trophy as the NHL’s MVP and the first to win the Lady Byng Trophy for gentlemanly play. After retirement, Nighbor became a successful insurance agent, whose stationery this note was written on.
