Gordie Howe

Gordie Howe earned the nickname “Mr. Hockey” as an exceptional player and leader. Howe played 32 seasons of top-level professional hockey including 25 years with the Detroit Red Wings where he won four Stanley Cups, six MVPs and six scoring titles. He was the first player in NHL history to have 1,000 assists and 1,800 points. Howe then played six seasons in the upstart World Hockey Association, including four with his sons Mark and Marty, before returning to the NHL for one final season with his sons on the Hartford Whalers at age 51 where Gordie became the first to notch 800 NHL goals.

Hi Jack,

I can’t recall ever looking as good as you have made me look in the paintings.

I want to thank you for the photo tour, your paintings seem so close and life like that only a camera could do – And thanks for adding me to the painting with three of my heros.

In friendship,

Gordie Howe
