Jackie Stewart

Nicknamed “The Flying Scotsman” Jackie Stewart was the most dominant Formula One driver over his eight-year career from 1965–1973, winning 27 races in 99 starts. Stewart was the first British driver to win three Formula One series championships. In the 1966 Indianapolis 500, Stewart led the race with eight laps to go before a mechanical failure led him to come up just short. Wanting to slow his pace of life, Stewart retired after winning the 1973 Formula One series title and became a race commentator and safety advocate as well as a worldwide icon for European racing for decades to come.
