Jim Bunning

Jim Bunning was a nine-time All-Star pitcher and the first to throw a no-hitter in each league — 1958 for the Detroit Tigers against the Boston Red Sox and a perfect game for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1964. After his retirement, Bunning helped start the MLB players union, then returned to his native Kentucky and began a political career that saw him lead the Kentucky State Senate and then serve in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. Here we find a photo of Bunning and his Philosophy of Life letter written on U.S. Senate stationery.
