Barons of the Ballpark
Triple Crown Winners
The hitting Triple Crown — leading your league in batting average, home runs and runs batted in — is the one of the rarest of achievements in baseball. In the history of Major League Baseball, 27 players have turned the trick. Since World War II only five men have done it and all five have signed this sheet. Ted Williams did it twice in 1942 and 1947, bookending his time in the military. Mickey Mantle (1956), Frank Robinson (1966) and Carl Yastrzemski (1967) followed Williams. It was 45 years before Miguel Cabrera joined them in 2012.
